New Reddit person...thought you might get a chuckle out of this..

Hi folks,
I know, I am new and will be clicking the wiki as soon as I post, but figured to kill two birds with one stone and .. well, my friends don't do mining or bc at all, so, had to give you all a chuckle while I look for ideas... here ya go :P
About a year ago, my home PC was 'hacked' broken into.. keylogged, whatever. I am a network/dba guy. People ask me all the time, "you do not run anti-spyware, blah blah blah?" and I tell them, "nothing on my home PC or network is worth anything and..I do not care.....till I care."
Okay, I started caring.. well, not really.. lol.. I got "intrigued.."
So, I saw this guy logged into my PC (this has to do with an ethermining question, I promise.. hang with me here.. heh)..
I started locking everything down. I reformatted, installed a different version of winblows, set up an internal subnet etc.. left that subnet hanging in a cascaded router and watched him pinging away at the old IP. I found it funny.. then I saw what he had done.
He had logged into my cached bitcoin account and bought as much bitcoins as he could.
I caught him the day of the transaction, so it had not, I got the money back.
Here is where I am at... and where it pertains to ethermining ;)
I got MY money back.. but, I still had made a profit and did not see that before my account got locked out....
Fast forward to this week, I literally yelled (in an email) at the place about taking a year to get my account back .. they were just busy as hell, but they finally give it back and... $1400 bucks in it.. lol
That was just the profit that had been left over.. heh
So, if I let this guy hack me like 283,719 more times.. I can retire!
Seriously though, I know, cannot make money mining bitcoin etc unless you have just a ton of mining machines, but let's take the cost of the rig out of the equation.... if I am in this to learn.. and if it takes years to recover the cost.. who cares... this is free money, imo.. and so.. I have thought of taking that and adding a little to it and building a mining rig, more to teach myself more, as well as to experience this and, see if I can learn TO make money with it.
The point is, so many people spend money they cannot afford to spend and then flip out when it is not "profitable, and I believe, with the help of smarter people than me, I can learn to make a good solid rig that could at least show me a profit, even if it is not a windfall. If it does well, heck.. I can add more, but for now, I just want to make a solid rig to learn.
So, I am looking at the following (keeping in mind as you all know that supplies are very limited.. lol)
I was thinking a
--- 6-GPU with 6 6gb gpus.. maybe 1060's? Whatever the price break is at. I would stick to, if possible, dual fan ones.
-- A Asrock mb? possibly the H81 or H110?
-- 1 4GB Crucial memory (Learned from the Wiki that 8gb might work better if I use Winblows for the learning curve)
-- 1 1000w psu... do I really need a 1200? Not trying to be cheap, will get a 1200 if it is best
-- I was thinking the G4400 CPU might work better than the Celeron?
I could build an open air case.. heck.. I have all the wood outside...but the stackable ones sure are nice. This is a first run test and for fun.. so.. either way.
Anyway, going to go browse more. read the wiki.. but thought you guys would get a chuckle out of the irony of a hack that made Me money vs them.. lol
Thank you all for all you do and the years of learning from you as I lurked. Just decided it was time to do more than lurk and say thanks.
UPDATE: From reading the Wiki (I have seen almost all that info already so skimmed it fast heh...) This is a question I am curious about: Does any OS i.e. Ethos winblows etc, have an advantage over another for profitability, speed etc?

1060 build on nicehash

So this week I am planning on building my first rig. I've built a few gaming systems for my self in the past and confident with a little help from you guys I'll knock his one out of the park...... Currently I'm mining with nice hash and enjoy coming home every day to see a little more Bitcoin waiting to be claimed in the future...... Not really interested in trading on the markets much happier on the hardware aspect of it..... After a little research and a budget around $2600 American this is the list I've put together....(only thing not on it is the ssd, I have a spare 120gb from a previous build as well as some vengeance 8gb ram)....
6x. Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1060 WINDFORCE OC 6G
Intel Celeron G1840 Processor
Leboo 6-Pack PCIE Riser VER 007 PCI Riser 6 PIN 1x to x16 Powered Riser Adapter Card
EVGA SuperNOVA 1000 G3, 80 Plus Gold 1000W
ASRock H81 PRO BTC R2.0 LGA 1150
Electop 2 Pack 2 Pin SW PC Power Cable on/off Push Button ATX Computer Switch
P3 P4400 Kill A Watt Electricity Usage Monitor
I plan on building a rack system on a plactic dipped wire shelving rack I have, which will allow me to face all GPUs / fan outwards for additional cooling. My current elect. Coats are on average .074 cents so that helps
As of right now my Amazon prime membership puts this at around 2200 leaving me between 400$ any advice or suggestions would be very appreciated, thank u again!

Up to $120 bounties for answering altcoin mining questions

I'm thinking about sinking some major money into mining. Probably $15,000 to $20,000. Not all up front but sliding into it pretty quickly.
I've got about three rigs up and running with ethereum but I have several issues I want input on. I am setting aside a $40 bounty for the three top answers ($20 for the top, two $10 for the runner ups) paid in bitcoins. I will be posting this in several places.
If there is a REALLY good answer I will offer an additional $80 (total of $100) for the top answer. This is my research that may save me from making a big mistake.
I live in the Midwest with temperature that hits 100f / 38c for 3 to 4 consecutive months a year. I want to run this operation in my garage.
Cooling. This is by far my biggest concern. I live in the Midwest with three months of 100f / 38c per year. I've dealt with this before with litecoin. I don't want to have to air condition. In my previous experience fans aren't adequate.
Will this gpu be able to stay cool at the temps I've mentioned without air conditioning?
If not … does anyone have experience using dialetric fluid / oil to submersible the cards in? I'm going to have to cool the oil somehow right? Is there a book way to do this? (Drop sealed containers of ice in the vat, pump it thru an oil radiator?
Hardware. As linked above I'm leaning towards the 390X to try to retain value a year from now. I'm thinking of using this motherboard
USB risers.
Mining. Has anyone developed a proprietary ether miner they are selling? Has vertcoin or monero mining stayed profitable with a .09 kw electric rate between the litecoin dropout and today if you are able to get a good cooling (non ac) system in place?
Power. I'm leaning towards this as my PSU. (I know I'll have to install a fan for the PSU). I'm fairly comfortable with the electric side of things until it gets to the PSU (I understand amps, volts, watts, and required wire gauges. Any warnings on running server PSUs?

Most cost efficient motherboard?

I am looking to build a mid-ranged starter mining rig with room to expand in the future as I am able to gather more funds. I was never able to get into mining back when Bitcoin and Litecoin were introduced. For some reason Dogecoin was able to push me into the mining scene. Now I am interested in building a mining rig so that I can gain Doge from mining as well as buying, because just buying them is simply not enough for me!
I want to know, what motherboard is recommended for GPU mining? I plan on going with R9 270X. Going to start off with one, but hopefully looking to expand up to 4 in the future. Will also be going with a 1000W 80 Plus gold quality PSU.
I have seen that the asrock h81 pro btc is probably one of the best mobos for GPU mining but they're out of stock everywhere (I am from Canada). Ebay has it for ridiculous mark up.
Looking for recommendations for alternative motherboard.

[WTS]Mining Rig | 1.5Mhash to 1.7Mhash | DC Area

I live in the DC area, looking to sell my mining rig. I'm interested in upgrading my equipment and I don't want this anymore. I've had this for about a month. The GPUs are still working great. One of the GPUs over heats easily but some thermal paste should do the trick (I haven't applied any yet).
It's currently averaging 1.5M to 1.7M. This can be bumped up another 100+ hash once thermal paste is applied to the 4th GPU. I like to keep my cards under 80C.
Currently uses BAMT 1.3 on a USB stick.
