Raspibolt troubles: bitcoind shutting down, out of space?

Hey y'all. Had my node running for some 19-20 months now. Following the Stadicus guide. on a raspberry pi 3. Bitcoin v0.19.0.1
the other day I just checked up on it and noticed it was in a failed state and didn't have the HDD mounted. The log seems to indicate it just stopped, the last entry is
2020-08-21T17:35:41Z socket recv error Connection reset by peer (104)
I did the troubleshooting guide (no stranger to this) figuring there had been a power outage possibly. I ran fsck and it took a LONG while to find and clean up a lot of errors. The drive works fine, i can connect to it via my pc (using linux file systems paragon) transfer files.. etc. I ran fsck another time or two to be sure and no errors found. It's got 57% free space.
I got the raspberry pi to mount the HDD again, started up bitcoind and it started to sync slowly. I'd check with getblockchain info and figured it would take around 60+ hours to finish and left it overnight.
Today I come back to find it was no longer syncing. Now no matter what I do, starting bitcoind manually, or having it automatically boot getblockchain info gives me an error
error: Could not connect to the server 127.0.0.1:8332 Make sure the bitcoind server is running and that you are connecting to the correct RPC port.
So bitcoind seems to shutdown instantly after starting it. AND checking the log, the last message from the 21st (above) is all that's there, no new information in the log.
I tried to re-install bitcoin v0.19.0.1 and got a suspect. When extracting the package into the tmp folder, it fails due to out of space errors. So this possibly means something is going on with the SD card? or something filled it up? Not sure what to check, or how really.
curiously the startup script for the raspibolt displays this for the SSD. Not sure how to interpret that. 36M free?
 SSD 36M (240%)
here i'm stuck, what can I try next? I believe I have backups of the important information. I'd like to avoid a total reformatting if at all possible.

I have two decent ideas for a new trezor product.

I think its decent - not groundbreaking or innovative idea but fun for trezor to make that I think its customers would like.
The idea is basically a mechanical keyboard with an integrated trezor.
It would have two different ports, one for power and one for connecting the keyboard to a computer.
It could have a large screen for QR codes and you could input seeds (in airgapped mode) and passphrases comfortably and securely.
The trezor could also authenticate the firmware running on the keyboard and it could run QMK to support open source.
It would basically look like a 70% keyboard but above the arrow keys you'd have the trusted display.
A good target for it would be Bitcoin developers, DevOps that SSH to many different machines, marketing or business people that work at exchanges that have to create signatures to move funds, LN node operators, keyboard enthusiasts and trezor fans.
I doubt you could do this profitably, but it would be cool!
The second idea is a trezor shield (or hat) for raspberry pi. I personally think that running a bitcoin node on a pi makes the most sense for most people. However if you want to use LN or host a hot wallet then trusting broadcom is a bit unsettling. So I think this might make sense. Profitable? I seriously doubt it but I'm sure many bitcoiners would like it.
Anyways I wanted to share.

Epic Cash AMA Recap with CryptoDiffer Community

CryptoDiffer team Hello, everyone! We are glad to meet here: Max Freeman (@maxfreeman4), Project Lead at Epic Cash Yoga Dude (@Yogadude), PR&Marketing at Epic Cash Xenolink (@Xenolink), Advisor at Epic Cash
Max Freeman Project Lead at Epic Cash Thanks Max, we are excited to be here!
Yoga Dude PR&Marketing at Epic Cash Hello Everyone! Thank you for having us here!
Xenolink Advisor at Epic Cash Thank you to the CryptoDiffer team and CryptoDiffer community for hosting us!
CryptoDiffer team Let`s start from the first introduction question: Q1: Can you introduce yourself to the community? What is your background and how did you join Epic Cash?
Yoga Dude PR&Marketing at Epic Cash
Hello! My background is Marketing and Business Development, I’ve been in crypto since 2011 started with Bitcoin, then Monero in 2014, Ethereum in 2015 and at some point Doge for fun and profit. I joined Epic Cash team in September 2019 handling PR and Marketing.
I saw in Epic Cash what was missing in my previous cryptos — things that were missing in Bitcoin and Monero especially.
Xenolink Advisor at Epic Cash
Hello Cryptodiffer Community, I am not an original co-founder nor am I a developer for the Epic Cash project. I am however a community member that is involved in helping scale this project to higher levels. One of the many beauties of Epic Cash is that every single member in the community has the opportunity to be part of EPIC’s team, it can be from development all the way to content producing. Epic Cash is a community driven project. The true Core Team of Epic Cash is our community. I believe a community that is the Core Team is truly powerful. EPIC Cash has one of the freshest and strongest communities I have seen in quite a while. Which is one of the reasons why I became involved in this project. Epic displayed some of the most self community produced content I have seen in a project. I’m actually a doctor of medicine but in terms of my experience in crypto, I have been involved in the industry since 2012 beginning with mining Litecoin. Since then I have been doing deep dive analysis on different projects, investing, and building a network in crypto that I will utilize to help connect and scale Epic in every way I can. To give some credit to those people in my network that have been a part of helping give Epic exposure, I would like to give a special thanks to u/Tetsugan and u/Saurabhblr. Tetsugan has been doing a lot of work for the Japanese community to penetrate the Japanese market, and Japan has already developed a growing interest in Epic. Daku Sarabh the owner and creator of Crypto Daku Robinhooders, I would like to thank him and his community for giving us one of our first large AMA’s, which he has supported our project early and given us a free AMA. Many more to thank but can’t be disclosed. Also thank you to all the Epic Community leaders, developers, and Content producers!
Max Freeman Project Lead at Epic Cash
I’m Max Freeman, which stands for “Maximum Freedom for Mankind”. I started working on the ideas that would become Epic in 2018. I fell in love with Bitcoin in 2017 but realized that it needs privacy at the base layer, fungibility, better scalability in order to go to the next level.
CryptoDiffer team
Really interesting backgrounds I must admit, pleasure to see the team that clearly has one vision of the project by being completely decentralized:)
Q2: Can you briefly describe what is Epic Cash in 3–5 sentences? What technology stands behind Epic Cash and why it’s better than the existing one?
Max Freeman Project Lead at Epic Cash
I’d like to highlight the differences between Epic and the two highest-valued privacy coin projects, Monero and Zcash. XMR has always-on privacy like Epic does, but at a cost: Its blockchain is over 20x more data intensive than Epic, which limits its possibilities for scalability. Epic’s blockchain is small and light enough to run a full node on cell phones, something that is in our product road map. ZEC by comparison can’t run on low end devices because of its zero knowledge based approach, and only 1% of transactions are fully private. Epic is simply newer, more advanced technology than prior networks thanks to Mimblewimble
We will also add more algorithms to widen the range of hardware that can participate in mining. For example, cell phones and tablets based around ARM chips. Millions of people can mine Epic that can’t mine Bitcoin, and that will help grow the network rapidly.
There are some great short videos on our YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCQBFfksJlM97rgrplLRwNUg/videos
that explain why we believe we have created something truly special here.
Our core architecture derives from Grin, so we are fortunate to benefit on an ongoing basis from their considerable development efforts. We are focused on making our currency truly usable and widely available, beyond a store of value and becoming a true medium of exchange.
Yoga Dude PR&Marketing at Epic Cash
Well we all have our views, but in a nutshell, we offer things that were missing in the previous cryptos. We have sound fiscal emission schedule matching Bitcoin, but we are vastly more private and faster. Our blockchain is lighter than Bitcoin or Monero and our tech is more scalable. Also, we are unique in that we are mineable with CPUs and GPUs as well as ASICs, giving the broadest population the ability to mine Epic Cash. Plus, you can’t forget FUNGIBILITY 🙂 we are big on that — since you can’t have true privacy without fungibility.
Also, please understand, we have HUGE respect to all the cryptos that came before us, we learned a lot from them, and thanks to their mistakes we evolved.
Xenolink Advisor at Epic Cash
To add on, what also makes Epic Cash unique is the ability to decentralize the mining using a tri-algo model of Random X (CPU), Progpow (GPU), and Cuckoo (ASIC) for an ability to do hybrid mining. I believe this is an issue we can see today in Bitcoin having centralized mining and the average user has a costly barrier of entry.
To follow up on this one in my opinion one of the things we adopted that we have seen success for , in example Bitcoin and Monero, is a strong community driven coin. I believe having a community driven coin will provide a more organic atmosphere especially when starting with No ICO, or Premine with a fair distribution model for everyone.
CryptoDiffer team
Q3: What are the major milestones Epic Cash has achieved so far? Maybe you can share with us some exciting plans for future weeks/months?
Yoga Dude PR&Marketing at Epic Cash
Since we went live in September of 2019, we attracted a very large community of users, miners, investors and contributors from across the world. Epic Cash is a very international project with white papers translated into over 30 languages. We are very much a community driven project; this is very evident from our content and the amount of translations in our white papers and in our social media content.
We are constantly working on improving our usability, security and privacy, as well as getting our message and philosophy out into the world to achieve mass adoption. We have a lot of exciting plans for our project, the plan is to make Epic Cash into something that is More than Money.
You can tell I am the Marketing guy since my message is less about the actual tech and more about the usability and use cases for Epic Cash, I think our Team and Community have a great mix of technical, practical, social and fiscal experiences. Since we opened our YouTube channels content for community submissions, we have seen our content translated into Spanish, French, German, Polish, Chinese, Japanese, Arabic, Russian, and other languages
Max Freeman Project Lead at Epic Cash
Our future development roadmap will be published soon and includes 4 tracks:
Usability
Mining
Core Protocol
Ecosystem Development
Core Protocol
Epic Server 2.9.0 — this release improves the difficulty adjustment and is aimed at making block emission closer to the target 60 seconds, particularly reducing the incidence of extremely short and long blocks — Status: In Development (Testing) Anticipated Release: June 2020
Epic Server 3.0.0 — this completes the rebase to Grin 3.0.0 and serves as the prerequisite to some important functional building blocks for the future of the ecosystem. Specifically, sending via Tor (which eliminates the need to open ports), proof of payment (useful for certain dex applications e.g. Bisq), and our native mobile app. Status: In Development (Testing) Anticipated Release: Fall 2020
Non-Interactive Transactions — this will enhance usability by enabling “fire and forget” send-to-address functionality that users are accustomed to from most cryptocurrencies. Status: Drawing Board Anticipated Release: n/a
Scaling Options — when blocks start becoming full, how will we increase capacity? Two obvious options are increasing the block size, as well as a Lightning Network-style Layer 2 structure. Status: Drawing Board Anticipated Release: n/a
Confidential Assets — Similar to Raven, Tari, and Beam, the ability to create independently tradable assets that ride on the Epic Blockchain. Status: Drawing Board Anticipated Release: n/a
Usability
GUI Wallet 2.0 — Restore from seed words and various usability enhancements — Status: Needs Assessment Anticipated Release: Fall 2020
Mobile App — Native mobile experience for iOS and Android. Status: In Development (Testing) Anticipated Release: Winter 2020
Telegram Integration — Anonymous payments over the Telegram network, bot functionality for groups. Status: Drawing Board Anticipated Release: n/a
Mining
RandomX on ARM — Our 4th PoW algorithm, this will enable tablets, cell phones, and low power devices such as Raspberry Pi to participate in mining. Status: Needs Assessment Anticipated Release: n/a
The economics of mining Epic are extremely compelling for countries that have free or extremely cheap electricity, since anyone with an ordinary PC can mine. Individual people around the world can simply run the miner and earn meaningful money (imagine Venezuela for example), something that has not been possible since the very early days of Bitcoin.
Ecosystem Development
Atomic Swaps — Connecting Epic to other blockchains in a trustless way, starting with ETH so that Epic can trade on DeFi infrastructure such as Uniswap, Kyber, etc. Status: Drawing Board Anticipated Release: n/a
Xenolink Advisor at Epic Cash
From the Community aspect, we have been further developing our community international reach. We have been seeing an increase in interest from South America, China, Russia, Japan, Italy, and the Philippines. We are working on targeting more countries. We truly aim to be a decentralized project that is open to everyone worldwide.
CryptoDiffer team
Great, thank you for your answers, we now can move to community questions part!
Cryptodiffer Community
You have 3 mining algorithms, the question is: how do they not compete with each other? Is there any benefit of mining on the GPU and CPU if someone is mining on the ASIC?
Max Freeman Project Lead at Epic Cash
The block selection is deterministic, so that every 100 blocks, 60% are for RandomX (CPU), 38% for ProgPow (GPU), and 2% for Cuckoo (ASIC) — the policy is flexible so that we can have as many algorithms with any percentages we want. The goal is to make the most decentralized and resilient network possible, and with that in mind we are excited to work on enabling tablets and cell phones to mine, since that opens it up to millions of people that otherwise can’t take part.
Cryptodiffer Community
To Run a project smoothly, Funding is very important, From where does the Funding/revenue come from?
Xenolink Advisor at Epic Cash
Yes, early on this was realized and in order to scale a project funds are indeed needed. Epic Cash did not start with any funding and no ICO and was organically genesis mined with no pre-mine. Epic cash is also a nonprofit community driven project similar to Monero. There is no profit-driven entity in the picture. To overcome the revenue issue Epic Cash setup a development fund tax that decreases 1% every year until 2028 when Epic Cash reaches singularity with Bitcoin emissions. Currently it is at 7.77%. This will help support the scaling of the project.
Cryptodiffer Community
Hi! In your experience working also with MONERO can you please clarify which are those identified problems that EPIC CASH aims to develop and resolve? What’s the main advantage that EPIC CASH has over MONERO? Thank you!
Yoga Dude PR&Marketing at Epic Cash
First, I must admit that I am still a huge fan and HODLer of Monero. That said:
✅ our blockchain is MUCH lighter than Monero’s
✅ our transaction processing speed is much faster
✅ our address-less blockchain is more private
✅ Epic Cash can be mined with CPU (RandomX) GPU (ProgPow) and Cuckoo, whereas Monero migrated to RandomX and currently only mineable with CPU
Cryptodiffer Community
  1. the feature ‘Cut Through’ deletes old data, how is it decided which data will be deletes, and what are the consequences of it for the platform and therefore the users?
  2. On your website I see links to download Epic wallet and mining software for Linux,Windows and MacOs, I am a user of android, is there a version for me, or does it have a release date?
Max Freeman Project Lead at Epic Cash
  1. This is one of the most exciting features of Mimblewimble, which is its extraordinary ability to compress blockchain data. In Bitcoin, the entire history of a coin must be replayed every time it is spent, and comprehensive details are permanently stored in the blockchain. Epic discards spent transaction inputs and consolidates outputs, storing neither addresses or amounts, only a tiny kernel to allow sender and receiver to prove their transaction.
  2. The Vitex mobile app is great for today, and we have a native mobile app for iOS and Android in the works as well.
Cryptodiffer Community
$EPIC Have total Supply of 21,000,000 EPIC , is there any burning plan? Or Buyback program to maintain $EPIC price in the future?
Who is Epic Biggest competitors?
And what’s makes epic better than competitors?
Xenolink Advisor at Epic Cash
We respect the older generation coins like Bitcoin. But we have learned that the supply economics of Bitcoin is very sound. Until today we can witness how the Bitcoin is being adopted institutionally and by retail. We match the 21 million BTC supply economics because it is an inelastic fixed model which makes the long-term economics very sound. To have an elastic model of burning tokens or printing tokens will not have a solid economic future. Take for example the USD which is an inflating supply. In terms of competitors we look at everyone in crypto with respect and also learn from everyone. If we had to compare to other Mimblewimble tech coins, Grin is an inelastic forever inflating supply which in the long term is not sound economics. Beam however is an inelastic model but is formed as a corporation. The fair distribution is not there because of the permanent revenue model setup for them. Epic Cash a non-profit development tax fund model for scaling purposes that will disappear by 2028’s singularity.
Cryptodiffer Community
What your plans in place for global expansion, are you focusing on only market at this time? Or focus on building and developing or getting customers and users, or partnerships?
Yoga Dude PR&Marketing at Epic Cash
Since we are a community project, we have many developers, in addition to the core team.
Our plans for Global expansion are simple — we have advocates in different regions addressing their audiences in their native languages. We are growing organically, by explaining our ideology and usability. The idea is to grow beyond needing a fiat bridge for crypto use, but to rather replace fiat with our borderless, private and fungible crypto so people can use it to get goods and services without using banks.
We are not limiting ourselves to one particular demographic — Epic Cash is a valid solution for the gamers, investors, techie and non techie people, and the unbanked.
Cryptodiffer Community
EPIC confidential coin! Did you have any problems with the regulators? And there will be no problems with listing on centralized exchanges?
Xenolink Advisor at Epic Cash
In terms of structure, we are carefully set up to minimize these concerns. Without a company or investors in the picture, and having raised no funds, there is little scope to attack in terms of securities laws. Bitcoin and Ethereum are widely acknowledged as acceptable, and we follow in their well-established footprints in that respect. Centralized exchanges already trade other privacy coins, so we don’t see this as much of an issue either. In general, decentralized p2p exchange options are more interesting than today’s centralized platforms. They are more censorship resistant, secure, and privacy-protecting. As the technology gets better, they should continue to gain market share and that’s why we’re proud to be partnered with Vitex, whose exchange and mobile app work very well.
Cryptodiffer Community
What are the main utility and real-life usage of the #EPIC As an investor, why should we invest in the #EPIC project as a long-term investment?
Max Freeman Project Lead at Epic Cash
Because our blockchain is so light (only 1.16gb currently, and grows very slowly) it is naturally well suited to become a decentralized mobile money standard because people can run a full node on their phone, guaranteeing the security of their funds. Scalability in Bitcoin requires complicated and compromised workarounds such as Lightning Network and light clients, and these problems are solved in Epic.
With our forthcoming Mobile Mining app, hundreds of millions of cell phones and tablets will be able to easily join the network. People can quickly and cheaply send money to one another, fulfilling the long-envisioned promise of P2P electronic cash.
As an investor, it’s important to ask a few key questions. Bitcoin Standard tokenomics of disinflation and a fixed supply are well proven over a decade now. We follow this model exactly, with a permanently synchronized supply from 2028, and 4 emission halvings from now until then, with our first one in about two weeks. Beyond that, we can apply some simple logical tests. What is more valuable, money that can only be used in some cases (censorable Bitcoin based on a lack of fungibility) or money that can be used universally? (fungible Epic based on always-on privacy by default). Epic is also poised to be a more decentralized and therefore resilient network because of wider participation in mining. Epic is designed to be Bitcoin++ Privacy, Fungibility, Scalability
Cryptodiffer Community
Q1. What are advantages for choosing three mining algorithms RandomX+, ProgPow and CuckAToo31+ ?
Q2. Beam and Grin use MimbleWimble protocol, so what are difference for Epic? All of you will be friends for partners or competitors?
Max Freeman Project Lead at Epic Cash
RandomX and ProgPow are designed to use the entirety of a CPU / GPU’s unique processing capabilities in a way that other types of hardware don’t work as well. You can run RandomX on a GPU but it doesn’t work nearly as well as a much cheaper CPU, for example. Cuckoo is a “memory hard” algorithm that widens the range of companies that can produce the hardware.
Grin and Beam are great projects and we’ve learned a lot from them. We inherited our first codebase from Grin’s excellent Rust design, which is a better language for community participation than C++ that Beam currently uses.
Functionally, Mimblewimble is similar across the 3 coins, with standard Confidential Transactions, CoinJoin, Dandelion++, Schnorr Signatures and other advanced features. Grin is primarily ASIC-targeted, Beam is GPU-targeted, and Epic is multi-hardware.
The biggest differences though are in tokenomics and project structure. Grin has permanent inflation of 60 coins per block with no halvings, which means steady erosion of value over time due to new supply pressure. It also lacks a steady funding model, making future development in jeopardy, particularly as the per coin price falls. Beam has a for-profit model with heavy early inflation and a high developer tax. Epic builds on the strengths of these earlier mimblewimble projects and addresses the parts that could be improved.
Cryptodiffer Community Some privacy coin has scalability issues! How Epic cash will solve scalability issues? Why you choose randomX consensus algorithem?
Xenolink Advisor at Epic Cash
Fungibility means that you can’t distinguish one unit of currency from another, in example Gold. Fungibility has recently become a hot issue as people have been noticing Bitcoins being locked up by exchanges which may of had a nefarious history which are called Tainted Coins. In example coins that have been involved in a hack, darknet market transactions, or even processing coin through a mixer. Today we can already see freshly mined Bitcoins being sold at a premium price to avoid the fungibility problem Bitcoin carries today. Bitcoin can be tracked by chainalysis and is not a fungible cryptocurrency. One of the features that Epic has is privacy with added fungibility, because of Mimblewimble technology, Epic has no addresses recorded and therefore nothing can be tracked by chainalysis. Below I provide a link of an example of what the lack of fungibility is resulting in today with Bitcoin. One of the reasons why we chose the Random X algo. is because of the easy barrier of entry and also to further decentralize the mining. Random X algo can be mined on old computers or laptops. We also have 2 other algos Progpow (GPU), and Cuckoo (ASIC) to create a wider decentralization of mining methods for Epic.
Cryptodiffer Community
I’m a newbie in crypto and blockchain so how will Epic Cash team target and educate people who don’t know about blockchain and crypto?
What is the uniqueness of Epic Cash that cannot be found in other project that´s been released so far ?
Yoga Dude Pr&Marketing at Epic Cash
Actually, while we have our white paper translated into over 30 languages, we are more focused on explaining our uses and advantages rather than cold specs. Our tech is solid, but we not get hung up on pure tech talk which most casual users do not need to or care to understand. As long as our fundamentals and tech are secure and user friendly our primary goal is to educate about use cases and market potential.
The uniqueness of Epic Cash is its amalgamation of “whats good” in other cryptos. We use Mimblewimble for privacy and anonymity. Our blockchain is much lighter than our competitors. We are the only Mimblewimble crypto to use a unique cocktail of mining algorithms allowing to be mined by casual miners with gaming rigs and laptops, while remaining friendly to GPU and CPU farmers.
The “uniqueness” is learning from the mistakes of those who came before us, we evolved and learned, which is why our privacy is better, we are faster, we are fungible, we offer diverse mining and so on. We are the best blend — thats powerful and unique
Cryptodiffer Community
Can you share EPIC’s vision for decentralized finance (DEFI)? What features do EPIC have to support DEFI?
Yoga Dude PR&Marketing at Epic Cash
We view Epic as ideally suited to be the decentralized digital reserve asset of the new Private Internet of Money that’s emerging. At a technology level, atomic swaps can be created to build liquidity bridges so that wrapped Epic tokens (like WBTC, WETH) can trade on other networks as ERC20, BEP2, NEP5, VIP180, Algorand and so on. There is more Bitcoin value locked on Ethereum than in Lightning Network, so we will similarly integrate Epic so that it can trade on networks such as Uniswap, Kyber, and so on.
Longer term, if there is market demand for it, thanks to Scriptless Script functionality our blockchain has, we can build “Confidential Assets” (which Raven, Tari, and Beam are all also working on) that enable people to create tokenized assets in a private way.
Cryptodiffer Community
If you could choose one celebrity to promote Epic-cash, who that would be?
Max Freeman Project Lead at Epic Cash
I am a firm believer that the strength of the project lies in allowing community members to become their own celebrities, if their content is good enough the community will propel them to celebrity status. Organic celebrities with small but loyal following are vastly more beneficial than big name professional shills with inflated but non caring audiences.
I remember the early days of Apple when an enthusiastic dude named Guy Kawasaki became Apple Evangelist, he was literally going around stores that sold Apple and visited user groups and Evangelized his belief in Apple. This guy became a Legend and helped Apple become what it is today.
Epic Cash will have its OWN Celebrities
Cryptodiffer Community
How does $EPIC solve scalability of transactions? Current blockchains face issues with scalability a lot, how does $EPIC creates a solution to it?
Xenolink Advisor at Epic Cash
Epic Cash is utilizing Mimblewimble technology. Besides the privacy & fungibility aspect of the tech. There is the scalability features of it. It is implemented into Epic by transaction cut-through. Which means it allows nodes to remove all intermediate transactions, thus significantly reducing the blockchain size without affecting its validation. Mimblewimble also does not use addresses like a BTC address, and amount of transactions are also not recorded. One problem Monero and Bitcoin are facing now is scalability. It is evident today that data is getting more expensive and that will be a problem in the long run for those coins. Epic is 90% lighter and more scalable compared to Monero and Bitcoin.
Cryptodiffer Community
what are the ways that Epic Cash generates profits/revenue to maintain your project and what is its revenue model ? How can it make benefit win-win to both invester and your project ?
Max Freeman Project Lead at Epic Cash
There is a block subsidy of 7.77% that declines 1.11% per year until 0, where it stays after that. As a nonprofit community effort, this extremely modest amount goes much further than in other projects, which often take 20, 30, even 50+ % of the coin supply. We believe that this ongoing funding model best aligns the long term incentives for all participants and balances the compromises between the ends of the centralized/decentralized spectrum of choices that any project must make.
Cryptodiffer Community
Q1 : What are your major goals to archive in the next 3–4 years?
Q2 : What are your plans to expand and gain more adoption?
Yoga Dude Pr&Marketing at Epic Cash
Max already talked about our technical plans and goals in his roadmap. Allow me to talk more about the non technical 😁
We are aiming for broader reach in the non technical more mainstream community — this is a big challenge but we believe it is doable. By offering simpler ways to mine Epic Cash (with smart phones for example), and by doing more education we will achieve the holy grail of crypto — moving past the fiat bridges and getting Epic Cash to be accepted as means of payment for goods and services. We will accomplish this by working with regional advocacy groups, community interaction, off-line promotional activities and diverse social media targeting.
Cryptodiffer Community
It seems to me that EpicCash will have its first Halving, right? Why a halving so soon?
Is a mobile version feasible?
Max Freeman Project Lead at Epic Cash
Our supply emission catches up to that of Bitcoin’s first 19 years after 8 years in Epic, so that requires more frequent halvings. Today’s block emission is 16, next up are 8, 4, 2, and then finally 0.15625. After that, the supply of Epic and that of BTC stay synchronized until maxing out at 21m coins in 2140.
Today we have a mobile wallet through the Vitex app, a native mobile wallet coming, and are working on mobile mining.
Cryptodiffer Community
What markets will you add after that?
Yoga Dude PR&Marketing at Epic Cash
Well, we are aiming to have ALL markets
Epic Cash in its final iteration will be usable by everyone everywhere regardless of their technical expertise. We are not limiting ourselves to the technocrats, one of our main goals is to help the billions of unbanked. We want everyone to be able to mine, buy, and most of all USE Epic Cash — gamers, farmers, soccer moms, students, retirees, everyone really — even bankers (well once we defeat the banking industry)
We will continue building on the multilingual diversity of our global community adding support and advocacy groups in more countries in more languages.
Epic Cash is More than Money and its for Everyone.
Cryptodiffer Community
Almost, all cryptocurrencies are decentralized & no-one knows who owns that cryptocurrencies ! then also, why Privacy is needed? hats the advantages of Private coins?
Max Freeman Project Lead at Epic Cash
With a public transparent blockchain such as Bitcoin, you are permanently posting a detailed history of your money movements open for anyone to see (not just legitimate authorities, either!) — It would be considered crazy to post your credit card or bank statements to Twitter, but that’s what is happening every time you send a transaction that is not private. This excellent video from community contributor Spencer Lambert https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0blbfmvCq\_4 explains better than I can.
Privacy is not just for criminals, it’s for everyone. Do you want your landlord to increase the rent when he sees that you get a raise? Your insurance company to raise your healthcare costs because they see you buying too much ice cream? If you’re a business, do you want your employees to see how much money their coworkers make? Do you want your competitors to trace your supplier and customer relationships? Of course not. By privacy being default for everyone, cryptocurrency can be used in a much wider range of situations without unacceptable compromises.
Cryptodiffer Community
What are the main utility and real-life usage of the #EPIC As an investor, why should we invest in the #EPIC project as a long-term investment?
Xenolink Advisor at Epic Cash
Epic Cash can be used as a Private and Fungible store of value, medium of exchange, and unit of account. As Epic Cash grows and becomes adopted it can be compared to how Bitcoin and Monero is used and adopted as well. As Epic is adopted by the masses, it can be accepted as a medium of exchange for store owners and as fungible payments without the worry of having money that is tainted. Epic Cash as a store of value may be a good long term aspect of investment to consider. Epic Cash carries an inelastic fixed supply economic model of 21 million coins. There will be 5 halvings which this month of June will be our first halving of epic. From a block reward of 16 Epic reduced to 8. If we look at BTC’s price action and history of their halvings it has been proven and show that there has been an increase in value due to the scarcity and from halvings a reduction of # of BTC’s mined per block. An inelastic supply model like Bitcoin provides proof of the circulating supply compared to the total supply by the history of it’s Price action which is evident in long term charts since the birth of Bitcoin. EPIC Plans to have 5 halvings before the year 2028 to match the emissions of Bitcoin which we call the singularity event. Below is a chart displaying our halvings model approaching singularity. Once bitcoin and cryptocurrency becomes adopted mainstream, the fungibility problem will be more noticed by the general public. Privacy coins and the features of fungibility/scalability will most likely be sought over. Right now a majority of people believe that all cryptocurrency is fungible. However, that is not true. We can already see Chainalysis confirming that they can trace and track and even for other well-known privacy coins today such as Z-Cash.

I was watching some videos explaining how to send and receive transactions in EpicCash, which consists of ports and sending links, my question is why this is so, which, for now, looks complex?
Let’s talk about the economic model, can EpicCash comply with the concept of value reserve?
Max Freeman Project Lead at Epic Cash
In V3, which is coming later this summer, Epic can be sent over Tor, which eliminates this issue of port opening, even though using tools like ngrok.io, it’s not necessarily as painful as directly configuring the router ports. Early Lightning Network had this issue as well and it’s something we have a plan to address via research into non-interactive transactions. “Fire and Forget” payments to an address, as people are used to in Bitcoin, is coming to Epic and we’re excited to develop functionality that other advanced mimblewimble coins don’t yet have. We are committed to constant improvement in usability and utility, to make our money system the ease of use leader.
We are involved in the project (anyone can join the Freeman Family) because we believe that simply by choosing to use a form of money that better aligns with our ideals, that we can make a positive change in the world. Penguin Shooter - A Bitcoin Lightning Network powered RPG

Hi everyone. With this post I would like to present a demo game, which I have been developing the last 6 months. Yesterday I released it on twitter and it got far more attention that I thought (https://twitter.com/BR_Robin/status/1086648655459876869). So now I want to share it with you on reddit in case you don't use twitter.
This game is a RPG in which you are a soldier who has to fight against animals to level up. You unlock ingame content with paying LN invoices. The invoices are displayed inside the game as a QR code that you can scan with your phone or simply click it to copy it to clipboard if you use a desktop LN wallet.
You can unlock the following stuff with almost instant LN payments:
- open a doo box/ toilet - spawn animals (that you have to fight against) - buy some stuff for your inventory: hp/mp potion, apples/bananas/kiwis (use them as grenades) - buy a tiger that fights along with you - buy a new life if you die - buy upgrades for your character (faster speed/ reduced gun and skill cooldown)
The prices are fairly low. Playing through the whole demo should take you about 1 hour and 1$ in BTC payments.
The beauty is: You decide what you want to buy!! If you think upgrading your skill is too expensive, you don't have to buy it! You are bored? You can quit anytime (your lvl and items are saved when closing the game)
You just pay what you want to have!!
Near the top left corner of the game you have a counter that starts whenever you create an invoice and it stops when it is paid. It's a nice tool to measure how quick LN really is!!

If you are interesting in seeing what this game is, you can watch a YouTube review (Thanks to the author of that video!!) Professor Meow - Penguin Shooter Review

If you are interested in playing this game, you need a LN wallet and a windows machine (the game is a .exe file). You can download it on https://www.dropbox.com/sh/3vx4cc1rf6l66n9/AADwOKS47yrmNWgGq0Ef8m92a?dl=0
If you want to play it, you should also consider reading my medium article
If you want to get updated on this project, you can follow me on https://twitter.com/BR_Robin
If you want to connect to my LN node: [028[email protected]penguinshooter.chickenkiller.com](mailto:028[email protected]penguinshooter.chickenkiller.com)

Please be aware of the following:
- This is a demo game made by a hobby programmer. There are still small bugs and maybe the game is not perfectly balanced regardig leveling and figthing.
- The game connects to my Raspberry Pi LN node to create invoices and to check if they were paid. My Node runs 24/7, but if the game does not display invoices (you see a red label on the left) then please forgive me and try it again later (if there are no invoices, ofc you also don't pay anything)
- In this game you have to pay for a lot of stuff, because this is a LN demo which wants to show how easy LN payments are. But the prices are not very high (fighting 1 sheep costs 5 sats).

Are you a Unity developer and want to integrate LN payments into your own project? Check out https://twitter.com/sputn1ck/status/1026899704985145344 or https://github.com/donnerlab1/donnerunity/
Thanks a lot for the community support that I got on twitter. This really encourages me to continue developing stuff like this, even if it is hard work. Also thanks to the reddit community as you cheared me up during the bear market!
Keep #hodling and ciao, Donno_ (PenguinShooter)

Vertnode - An automated solution for installing Vertcoin node(s) on Single Board Computers

Hello Vertcoin Community,
Eager to contribute to the Vertcoin Community I began creating step by step walkthrough guides on how to get a Vertcoin node up and running on a Raspberry Pi, Raspberry Pi Zero and Intel NUC. Along with information to get a Vertcoin node up and running was also optional steps to install p2pool-vtc.
I decided that while this step by step guide might be helpful to a few, a setup script may prove to be useful to a wider range of people. I have this script to a point where I think it may be productive to share with a bigger audience, for those who are brave and have this hardware sitting around or like to tinker with projects; I invite you to test this setup script if you are interested, if you run into errors any sort of verbose console output of the error proves to be extremely helpful in troubleshooting.
The script was designed to produce a “headless” server... meaning we will not be using a GUI to configure Vertcoin or check to see how things are running. In fact, once the server is set up, you will only interact with it using command line calls over SSH. The idea is to have this full node be simple, low-power, with optimized memory usage and something that “just runs” in your basement, closet, etc.
Why run a headless node on a Single Board Computer?
The idea is to have this full node be simple, low-power, with optimized memory usage and something that “just runs” in your basement, closet, etc.
Required: USB Flash Drive 6GB - 32GB
Please note that the script was designed for Single Board Computers first and looks for an accessible USB Flash Drive to use for storing the blockchain and swap file, as constant writing to a microSD can degrade the health of the microSD.
Supports

Hardware

All of the hardware listed above is hardware that I have personally tested / am testing on myself. The plan is to continue expanding my arsenal of single board computers and continue to add support for more hardware to ensure as much compatibility as possible.
Functionality
It is worth noting that LIT can be ran with multiple configurations, the ones displayed in the Post Installation Report reflect values that run LIT with the Vertcoin Mainnet. Please be aware that the Vertcoin Testnet chain has not been mined 100% of the time in the past, if you make transactions on the Vertcoin testnet that do not go through it is likely because the chain has stopped being mined.
BE CAREFUL WITH YOUR COINS, ONLY TEST WITH WHAT YOU ARE OKAY WITH LOSING IF YOU USE THE MAINNET.

PLEASE NOTE THIS SCRIPT MAY GIVE AN ERROR. THIS IS THE NATURE OF TESTING. PLEASE REPORT YOUR ERRORS IF YOU WANT THEM TO BE FIXED/RESOLVED. THANK YOU FOR BETTERING THE DEVELOPMENT OF THIS SCRIPT.

Ubuntu Server 16.04 Setup Details

You can use different clients to ssh into your node. One option is using PuTTY or Git Bash on Windows which is included in the desktop version of Git. If you are using Linux you can simply open a new terminal window and ssh to the IP address of your node (hardware you intend installing the Vertcoin node on).
You will need to know the IP address of your node, this can be found on your router page.
ssh 192.168.1.5 -l pi For example, this command uses ssh to login to 192.168.1.5 using the -l login name of pi. The IP address of your node will likely be different for you, in this example I am logging into a Raspberry Pi which has a default login name of pi.
A brief list of commands that can be used to check on the Vertcoin node status:
vertcoin-cli getblockchaininfo | Grab information about your blockchain
vertcoin-cli getblockcount | Grab the current count of blocks on your node
vertcoin-cli getconnectioncount | Grab the current count of connections to your node. A number of connections larger than 8 means that you have incoming connections to your node. The default settings are to make 8 outgoing connections. If you want incoming connections please port forward your Raspberry Pi in your Router settings page.
vertcoin-cli getpeerinfo | Grab the information about the peers you have connected to / are connected to
vertcoin-cli getnettotals | Grab network data, how much downloaded/upload displayed in bytes
tail -f ~/.vertcoin/debug.log | Output the latest lines in the Vertcoin debug.log to see verbose information about the Vertcoin daemon (ctrl+c to stop)

PIVX Core Wallet 3.0.5 final release (November 13th, 2017) - Mandatory Upgrade

Github release link
Forum Post

Important Notes

Upgrade instructions

1- Download the appropriate release for your platform from the Github release link. For command line installs/updates this link may help.
2- Start up your client and see if you are on the wrong chain by using this link (Am I forked?) or manually comparing your latest block hash against the [block explorer](www.presstab.pw/phpexplorePIVX/index.php#)
3- If you are on the correct chain, let it fully sync (or as far as it will go) and then repeat step 2. If you are still on the right chain move on to step 4. If you're on the wrong chain, download the chainstate from this link (mirror) and follow the instructions to install it. Do NOT delete wallet.dat or your backups folder. Once this is done, restart your client and let it finish syncing
  1. stop your wallet and/or daemon
  2. locate the folder with the blockchain folders (usually ~/.pivx/)
  3. do a complete(!) backup of this folder in case something goes wrong
  4. completely remove the folders "blocks", "chainstate", "sporks" and "zerocoin"
  5. download one of the snapshot-files (preferably the newest one) above into this folder
  6. unpack the snapshot file: 'unzip '
  7. the folders deleted above are now replaced by the ones from the snapshot
  8. restart your wallet and/or daemon
4- On this step you should be fully synced and on the right chain. Using the debug screen or pivx-cli, use the command
spork show
to output your spork status. Have a look at spork 16 and make sure the value is 1510179528 (now 1609459199). If it is, go ahead and start staking.
If you are having trouble getting the correct value for spork 16, try adding nodes to your pivx.conf file that are protocol 70912. A list of 70912 nodes can be found at http://www.presstab.pw/phpexplorePIVX/nodes.php . This can be done from the debug menu or with pivx-cli by saying
addnode 123.45.67.89 add

Notable Changes

libzerocoin Exploit Fix

zPIV relies on a 3rd party library called libzerocoin. All currencies that utilize the zerocoin protocol use libzerocoin, and many of those currencies have been exposed to an exploit which allowed for the creation of multiple zero-knowledge spending proofs for one single zerocoin mint. The PIVX developers were able properly identify the exploit, track down any fraudulent spending proofs, link the fraudulent spending proofs with their one valid proof that they were mutated from, and remove any mints from the accumulators that were derived from the invalid spends.

zPIV Maintenance Mode Spork

Handling the above noted libzerocoin exploit required the PIVX team to immediately release a patched wallet to as many users as possible which rejected bad spends and also disabled all zPIV transactions in general. The process of releasing a patched wallet in such a small time frame is frustrating and difficult for all members of the PIVX team and especially users of PIVX. The PIVX developers have added a new spork which allows for zPIV transacting to be turned on/off without having to release a patched wallet. This will allow much smoother operation if any problems occur in the future, and should also allow exchanges and 3rd party services to continue to operate even if zPIV is in maintenance mode.

Accumulator Code Refactor

The zPIV accumulator code has undergone a major refactor. Accumulators are one of the most essential components of the zerocoin protocol, and also one of the most computationally expensive parts of the protocol. This refactoring speeds up syncing and spending of zPIV by over 5x. The new code also allows for spending of zPIV with only 2 required mints occurring on the network after your mint has been added, whereas before 3 were required. This refactor allows for lighter resource load and a smoother user experience.

Money Supply Indexing

The exploit in libzerocoin threw off some of the wallet's internal money supply calculations for both the zPIV supply and the PIV supply. User's wallet's will automatically recalculate the supply on block 908001. User's also have the ability to recalculate supply using the startup flag reindexmoneysupply.

More Extensive Tracking of zPIV Supply Through RPC

More information has been added to the getinfo and getblock RPC calls, which now display the total zPIV supply as well as the balance for each zPIV accumulator.

Multisig GUI

Provides functionality which is currently only available through raw transactions. Multisignature addresses require signatures from multiple parties before coins belonging to the address are spent. Accessed through the File dropdown menu.

FAQ

  • Will I lose piv or zpiv?
    • No. Backup your wallet.dat again for good measure and never delete a wallet.dat file.
  • My wallet is stuck on block ?
    • Check if you're forked (Am I forked?) and then check if you're really on v3.0.5. If you're on the right version and chain, just hang tight and your wallet will find a good node to sync with eventually. Contact support if it's more than a few hours and the problem persists
  • My zPIV balance is incorrect
    • Contact support in discord or via the Support Portal. Please note that during the upgrade period and zerocoin maintenance mode there may be delays.

Small form factor for home server and Bitcoin node

Before I start, let me emphasize on the fact that this request is something probably quite unusual for this sub and I apologize if it doesn't belong here. If that's the case, please let me know.

What will you be doing with this PC? Be as specific as possible, and include specific games or programs you will be using.
I'm looking for a small, quiet and affordable computer which will run 24/7 in my house. The aim is to make it a personal server and a Bitcoin node (not for mining, just a node).
A Bitcoin node should run on hardware with good endurance, stable internet connection, a large storage and that can run for a long period of time.

What is your maximum budget before rebates/shipping/taxes?
300€

When do you plan on building/buying the PC? Note: beyond a week or two from today means any build you receive will be out of date when you want to buy.
Anytime during this summer.

What, exactly, do you need included in the budget? (ToweOS/monitokeyboard/mouse/etc)
I'm not sure if it's the right place but here are my criteria:

Which country (and state/province) will you be purchasing the parts in? If you're in US, do you have access to a Microcenter location?
France

If reusing any parts (including monitor(s)/keyboard/mouse/etc), what parts will you be reusing? Brands and models are appreciated.
I will use this computer as as server so via SSH after the install. I already own some spare monitors and peripherals.

Will you be overclocking? If yes, are you interested in overclocking right away, or down the line? CPU and/or GPU?
No

Are there any specific features or items you want/need in the build? (ex: SSD, large amount of storage or a RAID setup, CUDA or OpenCL support, etc)
As said earlier, I need a large storage for the Bitcoin node. I'm thinking about a 2TB NAS HDD so it can last for a very long time. The NAS variant of HDD is probably the one which suits my needs the most as the disk will be very frequently accessed and will run 24/7.

Do you have any specific case preferences (Size like ITX/microATX/mid-towefull-tower, styles, colors, window or not, LED lighting, etc), or a particular color theme preference for the components?
Mini ATX if possible. I'd prefer a small form factor. The most important part of the case is its protectiveness, the rest is not important.

Do you need a copy of Windows included in the budget? If you do need one included, do you have a preference?
No, I will install a linux distro.

Extra info or particulars:

I found the Odroid H2 and Odroid HC2 which fit my needs perfectly but they are either sold out, unavailable or have insanely high customs fees. Also I checked Intel NUCs but I'm not sure it is what I need, especially for the price. A Raspberry Pi is not a good choice because of the storage capabilities (connected by USB 2.0) and limited RAM.
I considered building a machine myself but I'm not sure which components to use, and where to buy them. This is why I came here and this is something I'm still open to, if the price is not too high.

Small form factor for home server and Bitcoin node

Hello,

I'm looking for a small, quiet and affordable computer which will run 24/7 in my house. The aim is to make it a personal server and a Bitcoin node (not for mining, just a node). I found your community and thought it would be a good place to ask for some advice on what choices are available to me.

Here are my criteria:
- Decent CPU (I don't need something overly powerful but a snail is not desirable. I'd like something along the lines of a Raspberry Pi, or more, in terms of CPU power.)
- Support for any linux distro (By that I mean: "It can run linux". If there is some config to do I can do it. It will very likely be a 19.04 Ubuntu), no pre-installed OS.
- At least 2GB of RAM (Upgradablility would be a bonus. Buying the RAM separately and installing it myself is of course a possibility)
- Can use the hard drive of my choice (I will buy a 2TB NAS hard drive, 3.5 inches. 2.5 inches are ok too)
- Something quite quiet and which is not too hot when idle (which it will be most of the time)
- Low power if possible
- Because I want the thing to live for a long time, being able to install the OS on the HDD and not on an SD card
- A case protecting the internal components. I don't care if it's pretty or not, I just want it to be protective.
- Has Ethernet support (If it doesn't have wi-fi then it's perfect)
- I don't care about display output and graphical power, I won't install a desktop environment.
- Up to 300€ in total.

I found the Odroid H2 and Odroid HC2 which fit my needs perfectly but they are either sold out, unavailable or have insanely high customs fees. Got my Bitcoin/LN Node up and running on testnet. Have a few questions.

Bare with with me as I'm still new to fully understanding how Bitcoin and the LN work. And I'm an even bigger newbie when it comes to Linux, which is why I installed 'Raspberry PI Desktop'. I wanted to closely follow the guide mentioned below (with a few changes as to accommodate the i686 processor).

I had some old hardware laying around and decided to attempt a Bitcoin/LN Node setup using the following guide: https://github.com/Stadicus/guides/blob/masteraspibolt/README.md

My Hardware Specs:
I downloaded the "Debian Stretch with Raspberry PI Desktop" disk image on the 32GB SD Memory Card. I then tried to do an install to the 4GB SSD, but I don't think the 4GB was enough disk space because the system install would stop/error at around 32%. After several failed attempts I decided to just "Run with persistence" from the SD card, which worked. After about a day and a half (breaks in between), I finally got testnet up and running. I'll be staying on testnet for a while until I familiarize myself with everything, with that said, I'm hoping some of you Linux and Bitcoin savvy people can answer a few questions/concerns.

TL;DR: I setup a Bitcoin/LN Node on testnet, and have a few questions below.

Linux Related:
  1. On boot/reboot I get this message below, should I be concerned? I'm not sure what it means, how can I stop this message? I'm able to just hit Ctrl+D, which the system continues booting normally afterwards.
"No Caching mode page found" and "Assuming drive cache: write through"
"After logging in type 'journalctl -xb' to view system logs, 'systemctl reboot' to reboot or ^D to try again to boot into default mode."

Bitcoin/LN Related:
  1. Is the LN wallet the same as my Bitcoin Node wallet? (I don't see the step where I created a wallet on the "Bitcoin" section using the guide I mentioned at the top of this post. But I do see the step of creating the LN wallet in the "Lightning" section by using the following command - "lncli --network=testnet create".)
  2. Do I need to unlock my wallet every time I restart? Is this required to use the LN? (I noticed when I restart my system and do a "sudo journalctl -f -u lnd", It prompts me for my wallet password, or create a new one.)
  3. What are the characters at the end of the command below(np2wkh) when creating a new address? Do I generate a new address every time I want to receive a payment? ("lncli --network=testnet newaddress np2wkh")
  4. Why does my LN wallet balance display differently than what I requested from a faucet? (The testnet faucet says 0.01 max, which I sent to my wallet address. But my LN wallet displays as "total_balance 199637".)
  5. If I need to restart my node, is there a correct way of doing so? How do I make sure i don't affect open channels?
I know I have other questions, but I can't remember them off the top of my head right now. Thanks

Bitcoin node stats?

I run a bitcoin node on a raspberry pi, its all through the commandline, so once the daemon is running there is nothing to see. I was wondering if there is some kind of interesting display/ stats screen/ front end or Dashboard I could use to see what was going on under the hood.

[QUESTION] How to confirm if Monero Node is running through Tor?

So a while back I made a couple of guides on making a Raspberry Pi Monero node (http://monero.pinode.co.uk/) and how to connect a PC GUI to it.
A feature that was requested was to run the node through Tor and I encountered this same problem the first time too. I'm having another go. I've got the node syncing and downloading blocks but I've not found a way to confirm the blocks I'm receiving are through either Tor or clear net.
Setup: edit
sudo nano /etc/totorrc
change values
Socksport 9050 HiddenServiceDir /valib/tomonero-service/ HiddenServicePort 9050 127.0.0.1:9050
then run monerod with:
./monero-v0.10.3.1/monerod --rpc-bind-ip=192.168.0.11 --rpc-bind-port=9050 --confirm-external-bind
192.168.0.11 is the IP of the Node, not my router.
I'm more familiar with Bitcoin nodes that display connection status of IPv4/6 and Tor separately. Can I somehow confirm I am using Tor through socks only?
I think I'm very wrong about my current settings.
** [EDIT]
So with some digging around on some other posts it seemed recommended to use the following command to launch Monerod (Raspberry Pi Node):
DNS_PUBLIC=tcp TORSOCKS_ALLOW_INBOUND=1 torsocks ./bin/monero-v0.10.3.1/monerod --p2p-bind-ip 127.0.0.1 --no-igd
No Tor setup required past installation as default SOCKS ports suffice. Monerod then reads back "[127.0.0.1:9050 OUT] Synced 90202/1390871" as using the default SOCKS port.
When I stop Tor using "sudo service tor stop" the sync stops too.
Any other input? Is this the easiest way?

Project Blockchain Valley

PROJECT BLOCKCHAIN VALLEY
My name is Morgan Rockwell, I am CEO of Bitcoin Kinetics Inc. Now founder of Kinetics - Blockchain, Automation & Energy. I created the first Bitcoin Operated Service Machine to allow Bitcoin to be used in the real world in all machines & businesses. We are rapidly expanding & growing into new territories, industries and concepts to help build the Bitcoin & Blockchain based industries into a competitive & profitable environment. We have began the process of issuing equity on the NYSE in New York City. We have purchased a new building to house the buildings office & factory. We have made several partnerships with many Bitcoin Business Leaders, Ethereum, Micro-controller & Chip Makers, DIY companies and many more important players in the new technology industries. We now need your help before we are forced to ask help from the banking sector, tyrants or billionaires..
We now need 10000 Bitcoins to create the greatest Bitcoin Based Economy the world will ever see, including the first Bitcoin Town... Ill give you keys to the company, all of the equity, I do not want a dollar.
There will be always be a loan offer out there for the purchase of the main street property of 1000 BTC for immediate purchase & payback with base interest rate of 15% on the 1000 BTC - giving 1150 BTC payback in 5 years or equivalent in USD value of equity in the corporation we are creating to be listed on the NYSE. When that loan contract is fulfilled by someone there will be another 1000 BTC loan contact available within 7 days for someone else to bid on. The bidding price will be based on a lower competitive interest rate and this will be done Over The Counter through personal communications.
We require an immediate range of 7000-10000 BTC to build the entire region into a fully functional Blockchain based industry zone. This will be self sustaining in regards to energy consumption & economic production. A am building partnerships with many smart people, strong businesses and influencers in industry to get these goals accomplished. I need the lending community, the Bitcoin community, the cryptocurrency communities to help make Blockchain Valley become a reality.
Anyone up for that offer? It would be able to change the world if you can contact me & send me that I have contracts ready and waiting.
This is where the future begins.
Along side that move a NEW company is created, to compete with the likes of Google, Apple, GE, Visa & CHASE. It will be called "KINETICS Inc".
Kinetics - Blockchain, Automation & Energy www.Kinetics.cc
KINETICS is facilitator of several Bitcoin & Blockchain projects including:
KINETICS is going to be incorporated in Delaware as a C Corporation. The fully functional business such as #BitcoinKinetics, #BitcoinAcademy & #Axiomity will be managed, funded and operated by KINETICS Inc.
KINETICS Inc & Bitcoin Kinetics Inc will both be located at our new shop in Upper Lake, CA in Lake County.
9450 Main St, Upper Lake, CA 95485
This buildings rent is $800 per month, to be reduced from $200,000 price for full cash purchase of property. I have plans to purchase the entire building full cash in the next 90 days, until then i'm moving in 7/13/2014 SUN & paying rent to own for 90 days. I have been told I can purchase the entire block including over 20 different store fronts, garages, a bank, a post office, a saloon, a large antique shop, several window display store front shops and even large areas of land for crypto mining data centers, fields of solar panels & wind generators, as well as the fact that all of California's fresh water is within 2000 yards of the building in several lakes. There is over 100,000 sq ft of empty store & office spaces on the main street. All of it has been personally offered to me.
We are committed to partnering with #TeslaMotors to convert the old gas station into a Tesla Super Charger Station equipped with SuperChargers, solar power & a lounge to busy the drivers as they charge their vehicle. We will be creating a Bitcoin ATM friendly lounge where customers can purchase all things Bitcoin, Hardware & even use Bitcoins at all the local shops. Ill be putting www.CryptoCrates.com in one of the shops on the block giving the worlds first Bitcoin Record Store a physical location.
There are now many possibilities with this HUGE opportunity here before us all. We are in talks with #Ethereum and several lenders, venture capitalists, bankers & Bitcoin investors to make this dream of a physical Bitcoin world a reality. We can turn Upper Lake into the start of what will be the home of #BitcoinTOWN, a place where all Bitcoin Business will want to come and have their offices. Eventually growing into a "#BlockchainValley"
There is so much money involved & needed for this long term 100 year plan, In the next 10 years up to 10,000 BTC will be needed to pay:
If you build it, they will come.
There is much to be done, its is all the start of jobs, money & Bitcoins value going to the moon. Building something in the real world with Bitcoins lending technology.
I have over 15 years of construction, civil engineering, electrical engineering & business development. I am the best human on earth to get this mission accomplished and to get the job done. We are in a state ware Bitcoin is now legal tender, the time is NOW. I can make everything happen, i talk well, i don't sleep and work non stop until the goal is reached, i have networked with everyone from the rich to the poor, to the entire Bitcoin community. This is an opportunity to be within 1 1/2 hours of San Francisco and 2 hours from Sacramento. This deal with Tesla Motors gives me the ONLY charging station in this North California region giving the loop from San Francisco, Mendocino, & The i5 to Sacramento a complete loop allowing the Tesla vehicles to travel up into the Forest Area. This will bring HUGE revenue, HUGE partnerships & many many new Bitcoin users and Kinetics customers will all be flocking up from San Francisco to the new land of Bitcoin...
All of you should help us and ill personally make you a very rich Bitcoiner, and you will save the world from fiat, from centralization & from tyranny...
To purchase the main street property only need 1000 BTC as soon as possible with 1150 BTC payed back in 5 Years. That is a 15% payback on a 1000 BTC loan that can be bid on by lenders If you can even participate in this loan in fractions, partial or full, please contact us ASAP as moves need to be made immediately. This allows us to acquire the main drag of Main Street, Upper Lake, CA and all of its shops.
We will convert it into a Solar Roadway/SolarCity filled block, with Bitcoin ATMs on every corner, Bitcoin Laundromats, Bitcoin Bank, Bitcoin Friendly Shops, A Blockchain Node in every business, A Tesla Charging Station right in front of the 1920s original Gas Station, a Restaurant Called Satoshi's Grill, with 5 star Chefs already ready to join the team, a record and music shop that takes all crypto currency, The Bitcoin Academy giving a local education center for all to access the newest information, technologies and educators, a Coffee shop friendly to all things Bitcoin & The Blockchain, giving rise to Bitcoin Gift card usage, lounge environment with data center tools. The entire town will have a 4G tower system with the first going behind the Gas Station in the yard & FREE WIFI, LIFI & MESH networking covering the entire area.
We ask you the #Bitcoin Community for funding before we ever ask a Banker, so please help us before we are forced to go ask Goldman Sachs for fiat... The community can gather 1, 10, 100, 1000 or 10000 Bitcoins to make Bitcoin usable in all machines. As a loan of 15% would be very helpful to us and to you in circulating Bitcoin & funding this community venture.
Contact us if you are willing to support this new venture as time is of the essence, moves need to be made NOW, and your Bitcoin's future depends on people like us & you giving Bitcoin real world use. Help us bring the future into the now...
THE BITCOIN TOWN / BLOCKCHAIN VALLEY PLAN
These 10 Phases will take money, people, passion and motivation. Time will only get in the way if you don't become involved with both your Bitcoin, Your Mind, & Your Sweat, Blood & Tears. We will help make this a reality, but first comes capital, participants & the plan. We are all here to help grow into a better world, Bitcoin gives us that last chance for humanity to stand up and shake off its slack. If we can come together and show the world how this technology works in the real world, the planet will see, it will feel, it will hear and know Bitcoin as reality. Over night the world can change if we put out foot down, take a stand, and create the world as we see it to be. People are at war, starving and suffering in the most horrible ways, all I personally can do is fight the good fight with Bitcoin in my hand, there is a chance now for us to have sanctuary and a place to build our plan of attack from. We now have shelter, not just for Kinetics, but for the entire Bitcoin community of users, businesses & investors. You all now will have a safe and friendly place to live, work, shop, learn and grow...
I thank you for your time and your care for the world. Thank You.

POS/POW implementation of Peercoin, a bright future

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=584703.msg7048834#msg7048834
cybnate26
I think the POS/POW implementation of Peercoin has proven itself by now. Attacks are certainly not impossible, but extremely expensive. And even if you succeed, something which hasn't happened yet for more than 18 months, the checkpoint system will take you back to square one. Agree that checkpoint system as currently implemented in Peercoin is not great, but it works for the time being while the network strengthens. It is a bit like the policeman in pursuit after you went to the red light. If you know the policeman is there, you might not pass the red light. Would prefer a more pro-active approach and a more secure network though.
Peercoin is currently working hard to get more nodes out in the wild by providing Raspberry Pi images. The new Peerunity wallet (releasing v0.1 soon) will make minting easier and the wallet more user friendly. And there are active discussions on peercointalk.org about increasing the reward for minters, rewards by block and to improve the security with e.g. cold-locked minting. Once implemented this will increase the participation of the coin holders and with that increasing the security of the network. Peershares is also likely to increase the use of Peercoin which would eventually turn into increased security.
The NXT network is way younger but has some promises. The way their forging works is interesting, but I'm personally struggle with the lack of transparency they display at times. Their wallet is finally at a level that someone used to cryptos can manage. The number of mandatory protocol updates is way to high for the average person to keep up with though. This needs to change before wider adoption can begin.
On the sales/marketing argument, NXT has an active development community but is not great on sales, Bitshares also struggles and Peercoin has also its challenges (will have a new video soon Wink). All are riding mainly on the back of the Bitcoin train if it comes to attracting new users and marketing to Joe Average. NXT has a bit of a challenge here as they are quiet different and they will need to work harder.
As said earlier in this thread the challenge is in the use of coins by merchants and the general public. NXT has a challenge as it has a different protocol and Bitcoin application can't be ported easily. Peercoin is likely to implement a couple of updates which makes it easier to port Bitcoin applications especially those directly reading the blockchain (getrawtransaction etc.). Haven't looked at Bitshares recently in this context, but thet are certainly looking at a different market.
Not sure what the answer is on the OP's original question, but I agree with other posters in this thread, the coin with the best marketing, usability and adoption will eventually win assuming that the protocol is sound and secure.
Disclaimer: I'm invested for 85% in Peercoin, 10% in NXT and 5% in a bucket of other coins.
